All the documents you need for a smooth corporate year-end, in one place. Use this checklist to gather your paperwork efficiently and keep your filings on track. Your year-end preparation questionnaire tells us what changed this year, and this checklist is where you send the documents. Every business is different, so some items may not apply to you. If you're unsure about anything, contact us and we'll help.
- Finish your setup first. Complete your Year-End Preparation Questionnaire and sign your engagement letter in the portal. We can't start on your file until both are done.
- Upload everything to your portal. Please don't send documents by email. If a file is too large or won't upload, message us in the portal and we'll sort out another way.
- Use PDFs and spreadsheets. Send statements as PDFs downloaded from your bank, and your own records as spreadsheets. Photos are fine if they're legible and complete: the whole page, in focus, right way up. Name your files so we can tell what they are.
- Send it all in one go. A complete package moves through in a single pass. If one item is delayed, send everything else and tell us what's outstanding and when to expect it.
- Aim for two weeks. Gathering everything within 2 weeks of your year-end date helps keep your filings on time and avoids CRA penalties.
- We review. Any questions regarding your uploaded documents will be added to the client portal under Tasks. Please check your junk folder for emails coming from noreply@mail.financial-cents.com.
- You approve. Nothing is filed with CRA until you've reviewed and approved it.
- Invoice, payment, filing. We send your invoice, you pay by e-Transfer, and we file with CRA.
Normal turnaround is 3 to 4 weeks from the point we have a complete package and all our questions are answered.
Questions? Email admin@arnasonaccounting.com or send us a message in your portal. We reply within 48 business hours, and it can take longer from December through April. Not sure what applies to you? Book a year-end prep call.
Pick the path that matches how you keep your books.
Please send these for every corporate year-end. Items marked If applicable only need to be sent when they apply to you. Items marked In your questionnaire are ones we also ask about there. If you answered Yes, upload the supporting documents here.
Clients often forget these, so please double-check before you submit.
- Shareholder personal business expenses (like expenses you paid out of pocket for the business)
- Vehicle expenses or mileage log
- Home office costs
- Account statements
